New words and sounds

I am starting to think that Will and Brian made some pact behind closed doors...

Brian: OK, Will, every time mom asks you to say "mama", you say "dada".
Will: Got it dad. She'll think that is hilarious!

I don't really think it is hilarious. I'm starting to get a little put out actually. This kid babbles "dada" all day long without so much as one "mama" in there to appease me.

That's ok. He's learning lots of other words and sounds. It is so cute to hear his little voice, even when he doesn't always get it right! ;-)

vacation: part II

i did not get a ton of pictures of Will on the beach. we were having too much fun playing (ok, and maybe laying out a little too). we took him down to check it out the first night we were there. we weren't surprised that he was ok with the sand, but we were a little surprised that he wasn't completely freaked out by the water. that's not to say that he liked it, but he was more indifferent about that water always sneaking up on him.

my dad doesn't really like the beach, but bless his heart, he brings us anyway. and he only comes down to the beach once....in jeans and shoes. we always have to document the occasion.  this year, he came down on the first night to see Will's reaction. he's a good pap.

we played at the pier and on the playground. he cried when we peeled him away from the playground.  daniel also took some family pictures of us. i can't wait to share those!

he must wave or say hi to just about every female he comes across...oy!

goodness gracious.

at the beach, we (brian or kevin) could dig Will a hole, plop down a bucket of water, and he would play for a good hour.  by the last day, he was ready to take walks on the beach and explore a little bit.

"what is this thing that keeps moving when i move?"

"i don't know about this, mom."

next up: the aquarium...so many fun pictures from that trip!...

vacation: part I

we just returned this week from our first official family vacation.  we went to charleston to drop off boo with brian's parents (thanks again Ed and Vicki!), stopped in charlottesville to see our friends (thanks Jeff and Robin!!!), and then headed to the beach. my family has been going to sandbridge in VA for years with our "beach family"...a couple of other families that we have grown up with and are our best friends.  all of us in my age range used to be the 'kids', but now we all have our own kids.

in charlottesville, we hit up our favorite spots...bodos, the orchard for some fresh peaches (that Will LOVED), campus, the corner...the last time Will was here, he was only 8 weeks old. it was so much fun to see this little guy experiencing one of our favorite places.

secret, silent language

Will is a funny little dude. he generally lets me pick on him and goes right along with me when i'm being an idiot. this has led to the development of our secret, silent language.  i wish i could share what we are talking about, but it's between us.
